It will take money to get into the specifics of what we need for our children's efficient education (each criteria carries its own series of "to do list" of analysis, review, implementation plans) but then we need the leadership and political will to implement it and right now we dont have it. So now the lawsuit is to keep the money that was originally promised that focuses the advocate to be Myopic. Its a lose/lose situation for the children, even IF we continue to get the flat funding that was promised in 2008. Something has to give, and this situation doesnt give much hope for it happening soon, before another generation is "lost".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618709929318397424.post-21059907199335110702011-02-03T13:50:30.636-05:002011-02-03T13:50:30.636-05:00Check out today's post, Mike, which is in part...Check out today's post, Mike, which is in part about the importance of our preschool programs.

I agree completely -- we'll never come close to chipping away at our segregated school system until we start consolidating districts. But remember when Corzine shut down the 25 non-operating districts? You would have thought that he was doing away with sliced bread.NJ Left Behindhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16739701636089453850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618709929318397424.post-84741630442594925712011-02-03T11:24:49.905-05:002011-02-03T11:24:49.905-05:00Hi...hope this finds you well

Abbott moneys also created after school prgrams that did expand the school day.

We could be thinking a bit differently about our options. Currently we continue to only focus on assiting districts with extremely high levels of poverty.

How about thinking a bit out of the box and looking toward making all our schools "middle class schools"?

How about becoming creative with our needs to consolidate our over 600 school districts with this in mind?

Is NJ ready for a real discussion about equity and public schools or will we continue to pursue seperate but equal that has never worked in our country?

Thanks again for your posts...

be well...mikemichaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04763718568425131817noreply@blogger.com
