They will promise parents that all students will be supervised by a licensed professional which they will charge each parent the gong rate for but what they will do is hire college kids at $10-12 bucks an hour and have 1 teacher supervise the whole thing. This enables them to create a profit center which goes directly to the organization and their Overhead ie Directors salaries.Karl Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16926320720790208892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618709929318397424.post-71045289345958765412011-08-25T13:33:21.150-04:002011-08-25T13:33:21.150-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Karl Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16926320720790208892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8618709929318397424.post-19440894005233941762011-01-26T01:25:34.569-05:002011-01-26T01:25:34.569-05:00But of course ed reform resources should be target...But of course ed reform resources should be targeted “to those truly in need.” How could it be otherwise? That seems to make basic sense. The fear of high-performing districts is well-founded. If a charter wants to come into my district, in Ridgewood, why should our public school students have to give up successful programs in order to support it? Our district is high-performing. Our budget is stretched beyond the limit. We get $0 in state funding, and the 2% tax levy cap means we have to cut just to balance the budget. Our community already sends plenty of income tax dollars to Trenton, where it is redistributed to other districts. It simply would not be fair to siphon additional funds out of our schools, thereby affecting the quality, so that parents could set-up a “boutique” school, as you call it, for something like Mandarin immersion. Your Emerson quote about “foolish consistency” is apropos, especially when the “consistency” is at a level our community is not willing to accept.Laurie Goodmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15333070518293834658noreply@blogger.com
